Painting

Here's how the painting went: all bare metal parts have been painted with Novol epoxy primer from their series Novol For Classic Car. It was also used as body filler separator. Parts that had original paint at first I wanted to preserve them, but even though I had colour matched top coat it was bit different. No wonder, the chemistry changed over last 40 years and even if the colour is the same, the glossiness, reflectiveness, the 'feel' is different. So I've painted whole car.

All body filler patches were made on epoxy primer and sealed with it as well. Then on top of that I've used Novol Acrylic Filler (two layers). That was flatten wiht 800 grit sand paper, wet. Then top coat is 5 layers of Spectral 2k direct gloss paint. Overall to paint whole car it took 5,5 liters.

Bottom of the car, wheel wells and insides of the fenders were painted with Novol Cobra - truck bed liner urethane paint coloured with spectral top coat to match (more or less) colour of the rest of the car.

Steering/driving gear, wishbones, suspension springs, rear axle and rims were powdercoated at local shop.

For seam sealing I've used APP PU-50 compound (do not use bathroom silicone for anything on a car, it has corrosive additives).

Now brace for a lot of pictures:
